Outdoor Living Spaces Designed for How Your Family Lives
Outdoor living is no longer an add-on—it’s an essential extension of the modern home. At Outdoor Makeover, we design and build immersive outdoor environments that bring families together, encourage movement and play, and create space for both celebration and quiet retreat.
Driven by passion, we seamlessly craft lifestyles and stories for our clients and their families. Every outdoor living space we create is intentionally designed to support real life—weeknight dinners outdoors, active weekends with kids, gatherings with friends, and restorative moments surrounded by nature.

Q: What features enhance maximum relaxation outdoors?
A: Besides having an outdoor living space to relax, the sound of water is the most relaxing thing in your surroundings. The second most relaxing feature is fire. We can thank our human ancestors for finding both of these essentials to our survival and leaving the same passion in our DNA.
Q: What do I need in my outdoor space to entertain friends?
A: A cookout is by far the most hospitable thing a host can invite their friends to. A grilling area or full outdoor kitchen helps prepare meals, and the process itself can be fun as friends hang out and socialize during cooking.
Sharing a meal is a bonding moment in all cultures. Here in the USA, grilling meats like steak, ribs, or hamburgers is a weekend favorite with friends.
Having a porch to dine on and a fire pit to hang out around after dinner makes for a great experience.
Q: What do women generally ask landscape designers to create in their backyards?
A: We are often asked to create shaded areas like porches or pergolas and pools by the lady of the house. They also ask for kid-friendly backyards and how to create safe outdoor play areas to get the kids out of the house.
Q: What do men generally ask landscape designers to create in their backyards?
A: Men usually prioritize the engineering around the house first—things like drainage, retaining walls, and keeping the foundation safe. Level lawn areas are also a major priority for most of our male clients. Other frequently requested features include outdoor kitchens, fire features, and TVs for watching sports.
Q: What type of TV should I buy for outdoor space?
A: Outdoor-rated TVs are great where open air, rain, and sunlight are constant. However, most of our clients ask if they need a fancy outdoor TV under a porch or on a fireplace wall—and the answer is no.
Outdoor TVs cost a lot. Most of our clients buy the TV size they want but choose a less expensive or entry-level model. That way, if something happens to it, it won’t be painful to replace.
We’ve seen indoor TVs last up to 10 years or more outdoors, as long as they’re protected from rain (e.g., installed under a porch, fireplace overhang, or TV wall).
