Outdoor kitchen design and construction in Atlanta

Outdoor Makeover & Living Spaces designs and builds residential outdoor kitchens for cooking, dining and gathering. We plan the layout, appliances, countertops, utility connections and surrounding outdoor space together, whether the kitchen sits on a patio or a deck.

A grilling station and a kitchen with multiple appliances, plumbing and a roof involve different construction needs. Our team helps connect your selections to the way you want to entertain and use the space. Our Client Concierge confirms service availability for your property and recommends the appropriate consultation.

OUTDOOR KITCHEN PLANNING

What affects the cost of an outdoor kitchen?

The layout and dimensions, appliances, cabinetry or masonry, countertops, utility connections, and surrounding patio or covered space affect the proposal. Confirm which appliances, gas, electrical and water connections, preparation and finishes are included. Our investment guide explains how kitchen scope fits into a complete outdoor project.

What should the design include?

Plan food preparation, cooking, serving, storage and seating together. Grills, smokers, sinks, refrigerators and cooking surfaces can be considered alongside shade and lighting. Utility routes and the kitchen’s location should be evaluated early, with connections and structural needs determined for the property.

How does the design-build process work?

Begin with a consultation about your priorities and intended investment. The team develops the design and proposal, coordinates construction, and guides you through the final walkthrough. Explore our process and completed outdoor project inspiration.

Outdoor kitchen projects in Brookhaven and Sandy Springs

The Bluffhaven Way backyard makeover in Brookhaven includes a grill, sink and countertop alongside a composite deck and refreshed screened porch. The Ferry Drive outdoor living project in Sandy Springs pairs an outdoor kitchen with expansive counter space, a covered porch, pool and hot tub. Explore the project photos to see how each kitchen connects with the surrounding outdoor spaces.

How long does an outdoor kitchen project take?

The schedule depends on design decisions, appliance availability, utility work, any required approvals, and whether a patio, deck or roof is part of the project. Ask for separate expectations for design, approvals and construction in your proposal. We confirm timing for your property and selected scope rather than promising the same duration for every kitchen.

OUR OUTDOOR KITCHEN OPTIONS INCLUDES

On Deck

On Deck

A kitchen on a deck can keep cooking close to the home. Layout, appliance weight, supporting structure and utility routes should be reviewed together before choosing the final design.

On Ground

On Ground

A ground-level kitchen can connect directly to a patio or poolside gathering space. Plan the base, drainage, utilities, preparation area and seating as one project.

Bar Extension

Bar Extension

A bar extension provides a place for guests to gather near the cooking area. Plan seating, serving space and circulation so guests and the cook have room to move.

OUTDOOR KITCHEN COUNTERTOP OPTIONS

Concrete

Concrete

Concrete offers a customizable countertop appearance. Discuss the proposed finish, edge details, outdoor suitability and care requirements before selecting it.

Granite

Granite

Granite provides a natural-stone surface with variation between slabs. Review the actual selection, finish, installation details and recommended care for its outdoor location.

Penn Blue Stone

Penn Blue Stone

Pennsylvania bluestone can connect the kitchen visually with surrounding stonework. Review sample color, surface texture, edge treatment and care requirements for the intended countertop use.

Crab Orchard

Crab Orchard

Crab Orchard stone is a material option to discuss with your designer, not a separate kitchen provider. Review the selected stone and finish for food-preparation needs, cleaning, edges and compatibility with the surrounding masonry.

OUTDOOR KITCHEN GRILL STATION OPTIONS

Gas Grill

Gas Grill

Choose a gas grill based on cooking capacity, fuel type and the manufacturer’s installation requirements. The exact model determines burner configuration, enclosure dimensions and clearances.

Blaze Charcoal Grill

Blaze Charcoal Grill

A Blaze charcoal grill is one option for homeowners who prefer charcoal cooking. Confirm the selected model’s specifications, installation requirements and space for fuel storage and cleanup.

Gas Pizza oven

Gas Pizza oven

A gas pizza oven adds another cooking option. Confirm the model, fuel connection, counter or base requirements and its location within the kitchen layout.

Wood-burning Pizza Oven

Wood-burning Pizza Oven

A wood-burning pizza oven requires planning for its base, installation, fuel storage and use. Compare those requirements with a gas model before choosing the right fit for your cooking habits.

Power burner

Power burner

A power burner adds a separate cooking station. Consider whether your cooking style needs it, and confirm fuel supply, working space and installation requirements for the chosen model.

Warming drawer

Warming drawer

A warming drawer holds prepared food before serving. Select a model suitable for the intended outdoor location and confirm the electrical and cabinetry requirements.

Kamado Grill

Kamado Grill

A kamado-style grill can support several cooking methods. Plan the supporting surface, working area and fuel storage around the exact model you select.

Griddle

Griddle

A griddle provides a flat cooking surface. Compare model size, fuel or power needs, cleaning access and how it complements the other appliances.

Refrigeration

Refrigeration

Select refrigeration designed for the intended outdoor location. Compare capacity, ventilation requirements, electrical supply and access before choosing an under-counter refrigerator, beverage cooler or ice maker.

Sink

Sink

A sink adds water access for preparation and cleanup. Its inclusion requires planning for the water supply, drainage, installation and seasonal care alongside the rest of the kitchen.

Hood

Hood

An outdoor cooking hood may form part of a covered-kitchen design. The selected appliances, enclosure and manufacturer requirements determine the appropriate ventilation and installation approach.

Our Process

Q: What should I include in an outdoor kitchen?

A: Outdoor kitchens are an amazing addition to any outdoor living space. The cost is directly related to the kitchen’s length and the appliances included. Start with what you need and decide on add-ons later.
At a minimum, your kitchen should include a grill, griddle, or smoker; these are your core cooking tools. We highly recommend a power burner next. It’s a versatile, high-heat appliance perfect for many cooking tasks.
One of the most overlooked but critical elements is a trash can. Outdoor cooking gets messy quickly, and having a trash can nearby helps maintain cleanliness and organization.
Next, a refrigerator is a must, especially if the kitchen isn’t close to one inside. It’s essential for keeping drinks cold and storing ingredients during food prep or game day.
Other great additions include:
Sink for hand washing and food prep
Ice maker for summer entertaining
Drawers and cabinets for storage and aesthetics
Pizza ovens for gatherings
Wood/charcoal storage for smokers
Ice bins for chilled drinks

Q: Do outdoor kitchens need to be covered?

A roof can provide shade and shelter for cooking and gathering. Whether it is appropriate depends on the appliances, ventilation, structure and layout. We plan these elements together and confirm the relevant installation requirements for your property.

Q: Should I go with a Natural Gas grill or Propane?

Compare the fuel options supported by your chosen appliance. A natural gas connection can avoid routine tank refills but may require a new line and site work. Propane can suit homeowners who prefer a tank-based setup, with storage, replacement and installation requirements to consider. Ask for the proposed connection work and its cost in writing; neither option should be assumed to have no upfront cost.
