Illuminate the Experience

Outdoor lighting is a powerful finishing touch that elevates your entire outdoor makeover. More than illumination, it’s an artful blend of function and atmosphere—enhancing safety, highlighting architectural features, and creating a warm, inviting ambiance after sunset.

Thoughtfully designed landscape lighting adds depth and dimension while extending the usability of your outdoor spaces. From smart lighting and integrated ceiling fixtures to subtle pathway and curbside lighting, each element is tailored to support everything from intimate family evenings to lively gatherings. The result is an outdoor environment that feels intentional, refined, and just as enjoyable at night as it is during the day.

A dedicated space for trampolines ensures safe and enjoyable jumping activities for kids, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries in the backyard. Uplights must be about 6 to 8 inches away from the house. Please make sure they are perfectly straight.

Downlight

Downlight

A downlight, also called a recessed light or can light, is a fixture that you install into a ceiling or wall to emit light downward. People commonly use it for task lighting or general illumination in spaces like kitchens, bathrooms, or living rooms.

Tiki Torches

Tiki Torches

Tiki torches are outdoor lighting fixtures that are often used for decorative and atmospheric lighting. They consist of a fuel-filled container, typically made of bamboo or metal, with a wick that burns to produce a flickering flame. Tiki torches are commonly used in decks or patios.

Sconce

Sconce

A sconce is a type of wall-mounted light fixture that provides both functional and decorative lighting. It typically consists of a decorative bracket or plate that attaches to a wall, with a light source (such as a candle, bulb, or LED) mounted on it.

Hanging Light

Hanging Light

A hanging light, also known as a pendant light or suspended light, is a lighting fixture that hangs from the ceiling by a cord, chain, or rod. It usually features a single bulb or a cluster of bulbs enclosed in a decorative shade or fixture.

Undercap

Undercap

Undercap lighting refers to the installation of light fixtures beneath the cap of a structure, such as a wall or pillar. These fixtures illuminate the area below, providing accent lighting and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the structure.

Post Light

Post Light

A post light, also called a lamp post or post lantern, mounts on a tall post or pole. People commonly use it to light up driveways, pathways, or garden areas. Place path lights at a straight 90-degree angle, a few inches away from the pathways.

Color Changing Lighting

Silhouette Lighting

Silhouette Lighting

Silhouette lighting is a technique that creates dramatic effects by placing the light source behind a subject or object. This results in a dark foreground with a highlighted outline or silhouette.

Spot Light

Spot Light

A spotlight is a focused and directional light fixture that produces a narrow beam of light. It is typically used to highlight specific objects, architectural details, or artworks. Spotlights can be adjustable to control the beam angle and are commonly using in galleries, museums, stages, or outdoor accent lighting.

Puck Light

Puck Light

A puck backyard landscape light is a small, disk-shaped LED fixture, often used for under-cabinet or tight-space lighting where a low-profile light source is needed. These lights, typically battery-operated or connected to a power source, provide local task or accent lighting.

Path Light

Path Light

A pathway light is a low-level hardscape lighting fixture that is design to illuminate pathways, walkways, or garden paths. They are typically short in height and have a diffused or shielded light source to minimize glare & provide safe navigation in outdoor areas during the night.

Our Process

Q: What types of outdoor lighting do you install?

A: We offer fully automated, long-lasting, low-voltage systems using high-quality LED lights for pathways, patios, and accent lighting.

Q: Will outdoor lighting increase my electric bill?

A: LED systems are energy-efficient and have a minimal impact on energy costs. Your bill will go up by just pennies per night when they’re on. Also, remember, low-voltage lighting kicks on at sunset, which is typically the least expensive tier of electricity usage.

Q: How do I pick the best material for a low-voltage or outdoor lighting system?

A: Outdoor lighting makes an amazing impact on the landscape. It’s important to use products that last in the elements—such as rain, ice, storms, and UV rays—and withstand landscaping crews. Always use a stainless-steel casing for transformers, since they are installed outdoors.

For wiring, Outdoor Makeover and Living Spaces recommends ground-contact waterproof 12-gauge wire.

For the fixtures—the most important part—use brass or copper. These materials are extremely durable and can handle some abuse. Avoid aluminum or plastic, as they have shorter lifespans. Brass is most popular; copper can oxidize and patina, which is beautiful on traditional homes but not always preferred in modern designs.

Q: How should I think about lighting my home?

A: Most people think outdoor lighting is about uplighting trees and shrubs. But the first rule of low-voltage lighting is to light the house and any major structure that adds architectural charm—like the garage or pool house.

Second, create flow and ease of movement for visitors and family at night. Light up pathways and driveways. You don’t necessarily need path lights everywhere—light bounces off surfaces and can spread naturally. Sometimes, stronger fixtures or brighter bulbs are better than quantity.

After these functional zones, light up outdoor living areas and focal points. This is where creativity happens. Finally, perimeter lighting adds depth to your backyard.

Q: Are outdoor lighting or landscape lighting systems manually turned on or automatic?

A: Outdoor lighting systems are fully automated through advanced photocells, timers, and controllers in the transformers. Photocells detect dusk and dawn by analyzing light intensity and turn the lights on at dusk and off at dawn.

Q: Will my neighbors like my low-voltage lighting?

A: Low-voltage lighting (aka landscape lighting) is single-handedly the most powerful agent of curb appeal. When the sun goes down, everything beautiful—windows, paint, driveway, and landscape—disappears unless it’s lit. If done right, with enough fixtures, it becomes a nighttime painting.

Outdoor Makeover and Living Spaces has never had a customer say anything but “WOW!” Once you experience it, you’re hooked. In fact, we often get calls to add more lights or because a client misses their lighting during a power outage.

We’ve seen entire neighborhoods respond positively—people feel proud or inspired to upgrade their own homes.

Landscape lighting brings beauty and also security. It helps you safely maneuver at night—to walk the dog, take out the trash, or simply enjoy your yard with peace of mind.
