Make room for more time together

A game after school, a friendly weekend match or a putting green steps from the patio can give your family another reason to be outside. We design athletic courts and recreation spaces around the activities you enjoy and the property you have.

Layout, grading, drainage, surfaces and access all deserve attention before construction. We consider recreation alongside landscaping, seating, shade and gathering areas, so play becomes a natural part of your outdoor environment.

Begin with our Client Concierge. We will discuss your goals, property and scope, then recommend the right makeover consultation. Our Investment Guide and Buyer’s Guide can help you prepare.

A recreation space that fits the whole yard

Tell us which activities matter to your family, who will play and how you want the space to connect to the rest of your home. We consider the court or game area alongside access, seating, planting and other outdoor features.

MATERIAL WE USE

Outdoor Makeover and Living Spaces is the best option for the outdoor athletic court installations, and we only use VersaCourt products in all of our work. The cutting-edge polymer used in VersaCourt has a high-traction surface that provides great stability even in wet circumstances. As a result, it effectively drains water and dries rapidly.

VersaCourt athletic game courts have an interlocking snapping mechanism, which ensures the tiles stay securely connected throughout vigorous gameplay, streamlines our installation procedure and makes it painless. Moreover, they offer a wide variety of vivid colors and UV protection, guaranteeing that your court keeps its crisp, vivid image for years to come.

Elevate includes a preliminary sketch and project estimate. Lifestyle and Legacy include a 2D digital design, with one and three included revisions respectively. An optional 3D design add-on is available with Lifestyle and Legacy for an additional $500; it is not available with Elevate. Your designer confirms the scope, deliverables and timing for your property.

Our Process

Q: What surfaces are best for athletics courts?

A: It really depends on what game you are playing. Some games, like tennis and basketball, require the ball to bounce, so hard surfaces are needed —such as concrete, asphalt, or, better yet, VersaCourt systems. Other games like soccer, volleyball, or badminton can be played on hard surfaces, but you can also play on grass or synthetic turf. Homeowners in a rainy climate should consider hard surfaces like concrete, VersaCourt, or synthetic turf to avoid delays after rain and damage to loose surfaces.

Q: Can you build custom courts (like basketball or tennis courts)?

A: Yes, we design and install courts tailored to your space and activities. We prefer to use a VersaCourt system, which is an overlay that goes on concrete. These tiles come in all shapes and designs. They offer many colors, and one benefit of VersaCourt is that it can draw different lines on the same tile, giving the same court multiple uses. You could have a basketball court that also serves as a tennis court— all you would need is another set of removable nets. Additionally, a basketball court could be used as a volleyball or badminton court.

Q: Should I build in basketball goals and nets when designing a athletics court?

A: Yes, absolutely. Most athletics courts have a concrete foundation poured at the same time as ground prep. Designers and installers must take a few additional steps when installing basketball hoops, including a large foundation and anchors to support the structure. It is recommended that all be done simultaneously for a seamless install.
