The goal

The West Benson Street project brings an Italian-inspired outdoor setting to a family home in Decatur. A wood-burning pizza oven, Italian cypresses and a rosemary-filled herb garden connect the design to the homeowners’ interests and heritage.

The design approach

The portico brings a grill, pizza oven and bar together for cooking and entertaining. A synthetic-turf bocce court and swing add recreation, while a linear gas fire pit and heaters provide warmth near the gathering areas. Each feature has a place within the larger outdoor plan.
