A comfortable outdoor room centered on the fireplace

The goal

At Honeysuckle Lane in Smyrna, the homeowner wanted an outdoor living space that felt cozy and functional. A gas-burning fireplace became the focal point, with a TV incorporated into the gathering area.

The design approach

The design pairs TimberTech Pecan composite decking with a porcelain-tile fireplace, cedar mantel and Texas limestone hearth. A matching drink rail and lattice skirting finish the deck, while the privacy wall includes an upper opening for airflow. Materials and details give the space a consistent character.
